Char Lee

Charlene Lee (Char) is a peer outreach worker and a devoted advocate for Waterloo Region’s unhoused communities. Char is part of the City of Kitchener’s Lived Expertise Working Group (LEWG), the People’s Action Group (PAG), Unsheltered Campaign, and Awareness of Low Income Voices (ALIVe). In 2022, Char won the Kindred Spirit Award for her extensive work with unhoused folks. Char is part of Social Development Centre Waterloo Region’s work on the Plan to End Chronic Homelessness with the Region of Waterloo, and recently co-presented at the 2023 National Alliance to End Homelessness conference. Char generously brings to this panel her own lived expertise in the intersections of perinatal mental health and precarious housing.
